Thinking about our Surroundings

stinky thinking

Yesterday I was thinking on our world events. It’s not hard; we have it pushed in our face at every turn. Sometimes it makes me sad that we have allowed it to get this bad. Besides the outside events we also have daily things happening all around us that we must concentrate on.

While contemplating (thinking) on a specific event happening in Jerusalem I was reminded of an exercise that was presented at a conference. It was the reenactment of Jesus walking on water. There in the front of the auditorium were men that represented Jesus, the disciples, and most importantly 5 that were waves.

The waves were hand-in-hand moving very fast. Disciples were huddled together, representing fear from the wind and waves. Jesus walking in the distance, saying  ” Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” Then Peter as the comedian he is says “Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.” Did you ever think was he joking or did he really want to met Jesus on the water. What ever his thoughts, since he engaged his mouth before thinking through, it did take courage for him to ask to also walk on water or even get out of the boat. Jesus, said come. As Peter began to walk toward Jesus the wind and waves increased. This is where it gets really interesting. Peter took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the waves and began to sink. This is where I get sometimes. Focusing on the waves (world) and not Jesus. When this happens I say to myself “Keep your eyes on the prize, not the wave”.

I personally do not want Jesus to say to me “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”

Jesus Walks on the Sea

Matthew 14: 22-33

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Be Blessed and I’ll see you on the Other Side.
