The Crucifixion, Seen From the Execution Stake,
by James Tissot

As discussed in the previous post Spirit Led. All humans are created with three parts: 1) BODY (flesh, bone, blood) 2) SOUL (mind / heart, will, emotion) 3) SPIRIT (conscience, communion/ fellowship, wisdom ). We are going to discuss the third part of the Spirit, Spiritual Wisdom.

To understand Spiritual Wisdom we must first understand God’s view on the realm of the Spirit. If you talk to unbelievers and some believer they think it is foolish to think that Jesus is the only way to God. Even though through scripture Jesus tells us He is the only way to God. God is still showing us today worldly wisdom to be foolishness.

1 Corinthians 1:20-24 (NKJV) 20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

When I’ve been under a teacher, even if I understand everything they are saying, I still feel like they know more about the subject than myself. God is the Creator, and He know far more than we can ever know. I’m still wondering how to make dirt!

Spiritual Wisdom

1 CORINTHIANS 2:6-8 (NKJV) However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

1 Corinthians 3:19 (NKJV) 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”

Wisdom can be divide into three prats in which we receive: 1. from education 2. from our own experiences 3. from the Throne of God. I find the wisdom that is received from God is the best. How do you receive this wisdom is through asking, prayer, and fasting.

James 1:5 (NKJV) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Proverbs 9:1 (NKJV) Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;

Until I read this scripture I had no idea that Wisdom was a She! and that she had seven pillars! So what is a pillar?

If someone describes you as a pillar of strength, he’s saying you’re reliable and supportive, much like a pillar or column of a building that helps hold the structure up.

The spelling of the word pillar looks like it has two pillars right at its center, holding the word up.  Pillar is interchangeable with the word column, though you can’t always use them in the same contexts. While a column and a pillar are both physical cylindrical structures, a column can also be the row running up and down on a chart, while a pillar is often someone or thing that is considered a foundation or support. Someone indispensable to your company might be considered a pillar to the organization.

The 7 pillars are:

  1. Fear of God (this is unbiased knowledge and justice of God)
  2. Knowledge (knowledge of fact and motive)
  3. Discretion (for thought)
  4. Prudence (doing the right thing)
  5. Counsel (purpose/unity)
  6. Understanding (applied knowledge)
  7. Power (energy to get things done)

We must seek Godly Wisdom, just as Jesus did on a continuous basis, which means we should bring everything before the Lord before saying or doing anything under our own power.

Romans 8:11 (NKJV)

11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Have a blessed week and I will see you on the Other Side
