A TIME OF JUDGMENT IS UPON US
On August 21, 2017, scientists tell us that the USA will experience a solar eclipse. A small path crossing from Oregon to South Carolina will experience a total solar eclipse, while the rest of us will see a partial eclipse, the extent determined by our geography. There is historical precedent for us to treat this eclipse as a warning to the United States of America.
Why is that important? The Bible teaches in Genesis 1 that God created the sun and moon for communicating His plans and purposes (signs). You may be familiar with an historical account in the Bible which describes a prophetic warning to Nineveh delivered by Jonah. What you may not know is that the Assyrian nation also experienced a total solar eclipse, along with other circumstances such as civil war and plagues that they understood were judgment. In the context of these events and the sign from Heaven (eclipse), the people of Nineveh repented.
Others have not been so fortunate. History records other signs (involving the sun and the moon) that warned of judgment, such as the Ottoman empire experiencing an eclipse in 1914 at the onset of World War I. The Ottoman Turks’ empire was defeated because of their refusal to repent, resulting in Jerusalem being freed from their rule.
To be clear, Forerunner Ministries is not proclaiming August 21 to be a day of judgment in the sense of catastrophic events happening on that day. However, we do sense that if we continue down the road to destruction with our moral values, judgment is inevitable.
What brings on judgment? Disrespect and indifference toward the ways and instructions the Creator of the Universe has given in order for us to relate well to Him and to each other. America has positioned herself squarely against God in many areas.
We do not know the timing of God’s judgment, only that God is true and just, and desires all to repent and be restored to relationship with Him so we can avert judgment. We see in Scripture that He gives warnings and opportunities after those warnings for men to get their hearts right with Him. We certainly will be praying and interceding for our nation to react as the Assyrians in Nineveh did, so that pending judgment may be stayed.
WHY SHOULD ALL OF THIS BE IMPORTANT TO YOU?
The man Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah), the Son of God, came to atone for the sin of all mankind. His first appearance in the earth was for the deliverance of all men from the grasp of sin and evil. Yeshua delivers from the kingdom of darkness those who would believe the promises of God, repent and act in accordance with His Word. When He returns as promised (Matt. 24:30-31), and in agreement with first century Jewish theology, Messiah will be coming to judge all men and vindicate His chosen ones.
First, Yeshua will gather His saints at His coming. in the first resurrection (I Cor. 15:50-58). Scripture teaches that Yeshua with His saints will reign for a thousand years, establishing the long-awaited Throne of David in the Earth (Rev. 20:4). From that moment of resurrection on, we will be forever with Him (I Thes. 4:16-17), in our glorified bodies, immortality restored as death is defeated.
Just like the Apostle Paul, maybe we are just a little bit insane by the world’s standards, but it is our desire to persuade you to not take lightly events happening in the world, nor the judgment that will come in due time. We pray you be willing to take an honest look at where your life is now, where you are headed, and what steps you need to take to be in God’s will (II Cor. 5:10-15).
Third, the Millennial Reign of our Messiah will bring about a restoration of the heavens and the earth, returning our world back to its original garden of Eden status. There will be a time of cleansing, renewal and restoration of all things (Acts 3:21). As a professing believer who finds joy in walking in God’s ways, you could be a participant in that glorious day, and that will be only the beginning of an eternal life of covenant love with the Creator and Redeemer.
Every one of us will have to give an account of himself to God (Rom. 14:12). Every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Yeshua is Lord (Phil. 2:10-11), but will you do it when doing so will bring you eternal life?
We know some of you have been deeply wounded and repulsed by religious zealots who follow the traditions of men, but we’re not asking you to adopt religion. The men and women we read about in the New Testament did not practice rabbinical Judaism, and we’re going to shock you with this statement… nor did they practice what is today called Christianity (i.e. Easter, Christmas, Sunday worship, abandonment of Biblical dietary laws – all manmade traditions added much later). Religious strongholds have kept mankind in bondage since the Garden of Eden. Freedom comes from knowing and living the Word of God, not man’s theologies that add and subtract from the Word.
We’re asking you to afford yourself the opportunity to know and be in a personal relationship with Yeshua HaMashiach, who came to restore you and your family to our Heavenly Father.
Will you give us the time to explain how we love and live with our God and change your destiny forever? The quest to be Spirit-led and grounded in God’s word has taken us down a different path than the average church in America. Though we do not claim to be Jews nor practice rabbinical Judaism, we do find Paul’s instructions to the Ephesians (chapter 2) persuasive; we no longer see ourselves as gentiles, but rather have taken the identity and destiny of Israel, grafted in as promised (Gen. 12:3, Eph. 2).
