Faith Level, What is Your?

September 21, 2016

Faith level! What is your ? Many have asked how do I know where my faith level is. Also if it isn’t where it needs to be what can I do to improve. Well hold onto your hats for some insights that will examine and improve those levels.

In Galatians 5 Paul explains being led by the Spirit and not by our flesh. He also gives us the fruit that we should produce in verse 22-23, part of our Spiritual Wisdom. But before we get into that let us pray that the Holy Spirit reveals to us understanding. Now let us look at the scripture closer starting at verse1.

faithChristian Liberty

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

my thoughts

How is this speaking to your spirit. Paul wants you to know that your are not under bondage through your faith, and the new life given to you by Christ. Christ gave us freedom from the bondage of mans religious law, but if you wish to follow those laws you have fallen away from the gift of grace that Christ gave to you by His sacrifice. It is only by faith through love that means anything to Christ.

Love Fulfills the Law

You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.

11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. 12 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off!

13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

As Paul continue; he indicates that you were on the right path, but you have allowed someone to persuaded you to turn from what you know is right. He is encouraging you to only think of what the Lord has done for you. Since Christ has given you freedom, do not use that freedom to sin. For the Law has been fulfilled and we are called to “love your neighbor as yourself.”

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adulteryfornication, uncleanness, lewdness20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies21 envy, murdersdrunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.  Against such there is no law.  24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Paul urges us to walk in the Spirit and not by our fleshly desires. It is not for me to say if you have any of these sins that are listed in verse19 – 21. If you do not know what they mean. Click on the word and the Biblical definition will open up in a separate window. It is important to know that these will keep you from entering into God’s Kingdom. If you have these in your life; repent (turn away from) and ask for forgiveness,  Jesus does not want any to perish.

Starting in verse 22 we can examine ourselves on where we stand in each of the fruits. This is where you will know where your spiritual or faith level is. Again I have given you the Biblical definition for each fruit. When reading about each fruit, give each one an honest examination in your own life. At first you might do fruit inspection every day, then every week. If you find yourself lacking in one, ask God to help increase that fruit.

I pray this is useful in your walk with the Lord. Even if you know the fruits it is important to do inspections in our lives on a regular basis.

Be Blessed and I will see you on the Other Side.
